Page identification

An html page included in a report may be identified and viewed on-line by two URI addresses as in the following example:

Web addr.: Get the current page from your own site /www/company.html
Image addr.: Get the page as it was saved during the report preparation ../../Image/www/Common/company.html

Explanation

  • Web address is the reference to the actual page. On clicking this address you will get the page that is currently available at your site
  • Image address is a reference to an image of the page, stored just after receiving the log file. This address is used to view an old page as it was during the logging, even after you changed it or removed it from your site.

Page information

The information about each html page included in a detailed report may have any of the two main components:

  • A graphical bar representation of the statistics
  • A textual explanation, typically with links to additional information.

The following is an example of a graphical bar representation:

Pages with usability barriers

Lists of pages with identified usability barriers are available via the items of the Diagnosis menu. Three views are available for these reports:
  • A list view that includes just a list of identified pages
  • A summary view includes the main findings
  • A details view includes measurements and statistics used for the analysis.

Page Diagnosis

Page diagnosis is based statistical analysis of distinguished navigation behavior to normal behaviors. The distinguished navigation behavior is determined by site exits and backward navigation associated with the page. The statistical analysis is based on special measures derived from the time recording stored in the log files.

The following is an example of the statistics used for page diagnosis:

Average time  Over all page visits

  11.44 seconds
Number of page visits: 213
Average over events preceeding backward navigation  Over terminal page visits

  8.00 seconds statistical error
Number of problem instances: 35 Reliability: 98%

The cost of a usability barrier

The cost of a usability barrier associated with a particular page is the percentage of site visits for which the usability barrier was identified at the particular page.

The following chart is a graphical illustration of the cost of a usability barrier of a particular page :

The potential gain

The potential gain is the potential increase in successful site visits, which is achievable by changing the page design or text according to the automatic recommendations.

The following bar graph illustrates the value of a potential gain:
